Searching for an RV inspector near you in San Antonio? HD-RV LLC brings NRVIA-certified, independent RV inspection services directly to your location—home, dealership, storage facility, or private seller's property. Whether you're buying a Class A diesel pusher in Stone Oak, a fifth wheel in Schertz, or a travel trailer in Boerne, we provide an objective, unbiased evaluation you can negotiate and plan with confidence.

San Antonio is one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country, and the South-Central Texas RV market reflects that growth. From Hill Country weekend warriors to full-time RVers heading down I-10 or I-35, we've seen the full spectrum—and we know exactly what the intense Texas sun and high humidity do to RV systems over time. That regional expertise is what sets our inspections apart.

Why San Antonio Buyers & Sellers Choose HD-RV LLC

There's no shortage of used RVs for sale in and around San Antonio—dealerships on I-10 West, private sellers from Converse to Helotes, and auction units coming through regularly. What there is a shortage of: an independent inspector who works only for you, with no financial stake in whether the deal closes.

Under the NRVIA Code of Ethics, our inspector:

  • Reports findings objectively—never understating or overstating defects
  • Will not inspect any RV in which he has a financial interest in the outcome
  • Will not accept compensation from dealers, sellers, or any party with a stake in the sale
  • Will not repair or service for compensation any system he inspects for a minimum of one year
  • Keeps all inspection findings strictly confidential—only you receive the report

That independence is the foundation of every inspection we perform in the San Antonio area.

San Antonio RV Inspection Services

We inspect every type of RV you'll find in the San Antonio market—from entry-level travel trailers to luxury diesel pushers. Every inspection follows the NRVIA Standards of Practice and is performed by a certified inspector.

🔎 Pre-Purchase RV Inspection — San Antonio

The most important inspection you'll ever have. Before committing to a used RV purchase from a San Antonio dealer or private seller, our independent pre-purchase inspection evaluates the full condition of the vehicle—structural integrity, all mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, LP gas, appliances, and safety systems. You'll receive a detailed report with photos, severity ratings, and recommendations that can save you thousands in unexpected repairs—or save you from the purchase entirely.

🚌 Class A Motorhome Inspection

Class A motorhomes—gas or diesel pusher—are the most complex RVs on the road and carry the highest price tags. Our inspection covers the coach systems in full plus a thorough visual assessment of the chassis, engine, radiator, transmission fluid condition, leveling system, and running gear. We strongly recommend engine oil and coolant fluid analysis as an add-on; transmission fluid analysis is also available. Note: The inspector does not drive motorized RVs.

🚙 Class C Motorhome Inspection

Class C motorhomes require careful attention to the cab-over structure, engine compartment access, and the combination of truck-based mechanicals with RV living systems. We inspect both thoroughly, with particular focus on the cab-over sleeping area for water intrusion—a common failure point in South Texas storms.

🚐 Class B Camper Van Inspection

Sprinter, ProMaster, and Transit-based camper vans pack a lot of systems into a small space. We evaluate base vehicle condition, conversion quality, system integration, and the compact electrical and plumbing components that require a specialized inspection approach.

🏕️ Travel Trailer Inspection

The most common RV type in the San Antonio market. We inspect frame stress points, axles, wheel bearings, brake systems, hitch components, roof membrane condition, slide seals, and all interior systems. San Antonio's intense heat accelerates delamination and seal failure—we know exactly where to look.

🔗 Fifth Wheel Inspection

Fifth wheels require specialized knowledge of the king pin, pin box, and hitch plate systems. We evaluate coupling wear patterns, landing gear operation, multi-slide mechanisms, tall-profile roof seals, and all coach systems. Critical for anyone towing with a pickup truck in the San Antonio area.

🏁 Toy Hauler Inspection

San Antonio is ATV, side-by-side, and motorcycle country. Our inspection covers ramp door hydraulics and seals, cargo floor integrity, fuel station safety compliance, enhanced electrical capacity, and structural reinforcement—plus all standard RV systems.

🔋 Pre-Sale / Seller Inspection

Selling your RV in San Antonio? A pre-sale inspection builds buyer confidence, helps you price accurately, and reduces the risk of deal-killing surprises during the buyer's inspection. See our Seller Requirements page for what to have ready.

How Our San Antonio RV Inspection Works — Step by Step

1
Schedule & Confirm Call (940) 297-7554 or use our online scheduler. We gather details about the RV type, year, location, and your timeline. We'll coordinate directly with the seller or dealership if you won't be present, confirming the location, date, time, utilities, and access.
2
Pre-Inspection Prep — Your Checklist The RV must be hooked up to 30 or 50 amp shore power (15 amp is not acceptable—it can damage RV components). A city water connection is required to test plumbing; if unavailable, the fresh water tank must be at least 1/3 full. Propane tanks at least half full, the refrigerator running for 12+ hours, and the generator with at least 1/4 tank of fuel. All keys, remote controls, and manuals should be present. The RV must be de-winterized prior to inspection start.
3
6–8 Hour On-Site Inspection Our certified inspector arrives at your San Antonio location and works through our 400+ point NRVIA-based checklist—roof to tires, front cap to rear wall, including the underbody for chassis, frame, and running gear. Every finding is photographed. We inspect in a time period sufficient to comply fully with the NRVIA Standards of Practice.
4
Digital Report Delivered in 24–48 Hours Your complete inspection report arrives by email with all findings organized by system, 75–100+ photos, severity ratings (Life Safety Issue · Major Issue · Minor Issue · Notice · Recommendation), and a record of any systems that could not be inspected and why. You'll have everything needed to negotiate, plan repairs, or walk away.
⚠ Planning Note for Motorized RVs: If you've ordered fluid analysis (engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid), results can take a few days to a week depending on lab demand and shipping. Plan your purchase timeline accordingly—fluid results can be the deciding factor on whether to proceed with a motorized RV purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions — San Antonio RV Inspections

How long does an RV inspection take in San Antonio?
Every inspection takes 6–8 hours, depending on the RV's size, type, and the number of issues requiring additional photography and documentation. We never cut an inspection short—thoroughness is the entire point. Call (940) 297-7554 to discuss timing for your specific RV.
Do you inspect RVs at dealerships in San Antonio?
Yes, absolutely. We perform inspections at dealerships throughout the San Antonio metro and surrounding areas. Reputable dealers welcome independent third-party inspections. If a seller resists, that's important information for a buyer to have.
Can you inspect a motorhome being sold by a private seller?
Yes. We regularly inspect RVs at private seller locations anywhere in the greater San Antonio area. We coordinate directly with the seller to confirm utilities, access, and scheduling—even if you (the buyer) can't be there in person.
Does the inspector test drive motorhomes?
No. The inspector does not drive motorized RVs. We perform a comprehensive visual and operational inspection of all accessible chassis, engine, and drivetrain components. For an additional fee, we can arrange a recorded 360° video of the owner driving the RV if requested and purchased in advance.
What needs to be ready before the inspection?
The RV should be hooked up to 30 or 50 amp shore power (15 amp can damage components), a city water connection (or fresh water tank at least 1/3 full), and ideally a sewer connection for waste valve testing. Propane should be at least half full, the refrigerator running for at least 12 hours, and any onboard generator needs at least 1/4 tank of fuel. All RV keys, remote controls with fresh batteries, and available manuals should be on hand. The RV must be de-winterized prior to inspection start.
How soon will I receive the inspection report?
Your complete digital report is delivered within 24–48 hours. Reports typically include 75–100 photos (sometimes more for larger or more problematic units), organized by system with severity ratings and recommendations.
What is included in fluid analysis for motorized RVs?
For motorized RVs, we strongly recommend fluid analysis. Two samples are standard: engine oil and coolant. Additional analysis—transmission fluid, generator oil, or generator coolant—can be pre-purchased and performed at the time of inspection. Results typically take a few days to a week. Plan your timeline accordingly if fluid results will influence your buying decision.
What about out-of-state buyers purchasing an RV in San Antonio?
We work with out-of-state buyers regularly. We coordinate everything with the seller on your behalf and provide a detailed photo-rich report you can review remotely. See our Out of State Buyers page for more information.
Is this a state-required inspection?
No. Our inspection is an independent, third-party pre-purchase evaluation—not part of any required state inspection. Any state-required inspection would be completed after purchase per Texas state requirements.

RVing in San Antonio & South-Central Texas

San Antonio sits at one of the best RV crossroads in the country. I-10 and I-35 converge here, making it a natural hub for RVers heading west toward Big Bend, east toward Houston and the Gulf Coast, or north into the Hill Country. The region offers year-round camping—though summers demand that your air conditioning be in top condition, which is why we perform a Delta T cooling efficiency test on every AC unit we inspect.

Popular RV destinations accessible from San Antonio:

  • Guadalupe River State Park — tubing, swimming, and riverside camping north of the city
  • Garner State Park — one of the most popular state parks in Texas, near Concan
  • Kerrville-Schreiner Park — full-hookup camping along the Guadalupe River
  • Canyon Lake — boating and lakeside RV camping in Comal County
  • Enchanted Rock State Natural Area — near Fredericksburg, gateway to Hill Country exploration
  • Palmetto State Park — unusual subtropical setting near Gonzales, east of San Antonio

With campgrounds close to the city in all directions, keeping your RV road-ready protects both your investment and your next adventure. A thorough pre-purchase inspection ensures the RV you buy is genuinely ready for everything South-Central Texas has to offer.
