The first rv I considered was a beautiful, used rv that turned out to be a scam.  HD-RV allowed me to cancel/postpone the inspection until I found another rv to pursue.   I found #2 at a large local, reputable dealer.  It was a 3-year old used rv. I arranged to have HD-RV inspect it and they found many major problems during this inspection so I backed out of the sale with the dealer.  I then decided to buy a brand new 2026 model from a nationwide dealer and I had it inspected by HD-RV.  A few minor problems were found and the dealer addressed the problems before I took possession of the rv.  HD-RV kept me informed throughout the inspection process and provided very detailed reports for the two inspections they did for me.  The reports contained photos and videos as well as written descriptions of the problems they found.  I’ll call the inspections money well spent for peace of mind that I wasn’t buying a money pit with major problems. Pre-Inspection Prep — Your Checklist The RV must be hooked up to 30 or 50 amp shore power (15 amp is not acceptable—it can damage RV components). A city water connection is required to test plumbing; if unavailable, the fresh water tank must be at least 1/3 full. Propane tanks at least half full, the refrigerator running for 12+ hours, and the generator with at least 1/4 tank of fuel. All keys, remote controls, and manuals should be present. The RV must be de-winterized prior to inspection start.

6–8 Hour On-Site Inspection Our certified inspector arrives at your San Antonio location and works through our 400+ point NRVIA-based checklist—roof to tires, front cap to rear wall, including the underbody for chassis, frame, and running gear. What needs to be ready before the inspection?

For motorized RVs, we strongly recommend fluid analysis. Two samples are standard: engine oil and coolant. Additional analysis—transmission fluid, generator oil, or generator coolant—can be pre-purchased and performed at the time of inspection. Results typically take a few days to a week. Plan your timeline accordingly if fluid results will influence your buying decision.

What about out-of-state buyers purchasing an RV in San Antonio?
